Job summary

Spearfish Canyon Healthcare in Spearfish, SD is seeking a Dietary Aide to join our team and support daily dietary functions for residents. You will assist with meal preparation, help the cook, serve meals, and maintain clean, safe kitchen and dining areas.

The role requires a current Food Handler's Permit and at least 1 year of experience as a Dietary Aide or in a similar role, with orientation, health screening, and drug testing completed upon hire. Local commute to Spearfish is expected.

Qualifications

• Must complete orientation required by company policy.
• Health screening and TB test within two weeks of employment.
• Mandatory drug test upon hire.
• Must be free of criminal activity proven by a criminal background check.
• Must become familiar with and comply with all local, state, and federal regulations relating to the job.
• Must show, within three (3) days of hire, satisfactory evidence of identity and eligibility for employment.
• Must have a current Food Handler's Permit.
• Minimum 1 year experience as a Dietary Aide or similar role
• Experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility is a plus

Responsibilities

• Ensure that safety precautions, life safety, and infection control policies and procedures are followed during daily work assignments.
• Prepare food as assigned and assist cook as needed, ensuring food is handled and stored using proper procedures.
• Serve meals, clear the main dining room, and wipe tables.
• Wash dishes and equipment and thoroughly clean the work area.
• Make sure tray preparation follows prescribed menus, honoring resident likes and dislikes when possible.
• Prepare and distribute snacks to the nursing department as needed.
• Stock storeroom and bring out stock as needed.
• Take out trash; sweep and mop floors in main dining room, kitchen, and pantry; wipe pantry shelves; scrub baseboards and walls as needed; clean appliances, equipment, freezers, etc.; always leave kitchen clean and orderly.
• Invite and arrange for families to eat with their related residents periodically.
• Clean and sanitize all carts, wash and put away dishes, and take out garbage and recycling.
