Job summary

Pavilion on Main Street is seeking a Dietary Aide to join their team in a long-term care facility. The role includes serving residents’ meals and supporting daily cleaning routines in the dietary department, with union considerations noted as a collectively bargained position.

The position requires English literacy, tray-card understanding, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment; sanitation standards must be followed, with training for dishwasher operation provided.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Must be able to read/understand resident tray card.
• Must be able to keep up in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to learn to load and operate an industrial diswasher within one week.
• Ability to follow sanitation process and maintain cleanliness standards.

Responsibilities

• Serves food in accordance with established portion control procedures.
• Assists in daily or scheduled cleaning duties, in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Cleans tables, meat blocks, refrigerators/freezers, etc.
• Sweeps and mops floors as directed.
• Carries soiled utensils, etc., to wash area.
• Returns clean utensils to proper storage areas.
• Washes and cleans utensils as directed.
• Keeps work areas clean, dry and free of hazardous equipment, supplies, etc.
• Sets up meal trays, food carts, dining room, etc., as instructed.
• Assists cook in preparing meals and obtaining food supplies for the following meal.
• All other duties as assigned.

Dietary Aide Education and Experience:

• Experience operating an industrial dishwasher and the sanitation process of the kitchen, preferred.
• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required.
• Experience in industrial food production preferred.
• Prior experience working in a long-term care facility a plus.

Physical Requirements:

• Walking, reaching, bending, lifting, extended sitting, grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing and pulling, ability to distinguish smells and temperatures, all with or without the aid of mechanical devices is required.
• Limited potential for exposure to environmental hazards. Understanding and adherence to company safety standards and protocols required.
