Rosemount Care Center in Ohio is seeking a friendly Dietary Aide to support daily meal service for residents. You will help with food preparation, assemble and deliver meals to the nurses' station and residents, and ensure meals align with prescribed diets.

Follow diet cards and menus, maintain clean, sanitary work areas, assist the cook when needed, and help with tray setup, service, and cleanup to support quality, respectful care.

Qualifications

Ability to follow dietary instructions and food safety policies.
Ability to read, write and understand English.
Friendly and patient with residents and staff.

Responsibilities

Provide assistance to all food functions as directed and per policies.
Ensure that food procedures are followed according to policies.
Prepare and deliver meals to nurses' station and residents as required.
Complete tray setup according to diets and menus.
Deliver meals, retrieve trays, and maintain service areas.
Break down trays, clean dish areas, and restock as needed.
Take out trash, sweep, mop, and sanitize work areas.
Accept calls and requests from nursing staff and residents, fulfilling them promptly.
Assist cook when needed and make authorized substitutions.
Assist in food preparation for special meals or events.

Responsibilities

Provide assistance to all food functions as directed or instructed and in accordance with established food policies and procedures
Ensure that all food procedures are followed in accordance with established policies
Prepare and/or deliver to the nurses' station at appropriate times of day: juice, applesauce, and pudding for med passes
Complete set up of resident meals trays according to specified diets
Place hot and cold food items on residents' trays at mealtime according to menu, diet cards, or designated by the manager or cook
Prepare sandwiches, juices, special, and meal items according to diet cards, and place on trays at meal times
Deliver all meal trays to appropriate destinations on the nursing floor at appropriate times, retrieve trays at appropriate times, and collect any trays or dishware from the floor before end of shift
Break down all trays and items on trays by putting through the dish machine, putting items away in appropriate places, and restock the machine with appropriate chemicals
Take out all trashcans after each meal, sweep, mop, and sanitize work areas according to checklists or as deemed appropriate by the supervisor or cook
Accept phone calls and requests from nursing staff and residents in an appropriate manner and fulfilrequests in a timely manner
Assist cook when needed
Make authorized food substitutions
Assist in food preparation for special meals, for parties, etc.

Safety and Sanitation

Ensure that the department is maintained in a clean and safe manner by assuring that necessary equipment and supplies are maintained
Report all hazardous conditions and equipment to your supervisor immediately
Report all accidents and incidents to your supervisor on the shift in which they occur
Assist in maintaining food storage areas in a clean and properly arranged manner at all times
Dispose of food and waste in accordance with established policies
Wear protective clothing and equipment when handling infectious waste and/or blood or body fluids
Report missing and illegible labels or MSDSs to your supervisor

Equipment and Supply Functions

Ensure that food and supplies for the next meal are readily available
Assist in inventorying and storing in-coming food, supplies, etc., as necessary

Resident Rights

Honor the resident's refusal of treatment request
Abide by the resident's participation in treatment decision
Inform the resident of consequences of not participating in prescribed therapy and document such action in the resident's clinical record
Report any complaints or grievances to the department supervisor
Report and investigate all allegations of resident abuse and/or misappropriation of resident property
Allow the resident to participate in the planning and scheduling of his or her treatment

Qualifications

Must possess the ability to make independent decisions, to follow instructions, and to accept constructive criticism
Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies or personnel, and the general public
Must maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, etc., and maintain the appearance of maintenance work areas
Must have the ability to minimize waste of supplies, misuse of equipment, etc.
Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing maintenance practices
Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
Must be a supportive team member, contribute to and be an example of teamwork and teamwork concept
Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
