Job summary

Senior Solutions, Inc. in Knoxville, TN is seeking a Dietary Aide to assist with the preparation and service of meals for residents, while maintaining kitchen and dining room cleanliness in accordance with federal, state, local standards and facility policies.

You will follow food safety procedures, record temperatures as required, and work with the Food Services Director to ensure high-quality, safe meals are provided to residents.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to read, write and speak English.
  • High school diploma required.
  • Follow safety precautions in Dietary.
  • Wear slip resistant shoes.
  • Recommended training in cost control, food management, diet therapy, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains cleanliness of Kitchen and Dining Room.
  • Ensures dishware and preparation tools are clean and sanitized after each use.
  • Assists in preparation and service of food using proper food handling and food safety techniques.
  • Keeps work area clean and uncluttered.
  • Maintains proper temperatures of food during preparation/service and records temperatures.
  • Maintains sanitation of dish machine and records temperatures.
  • Labels, dates, and stores food and chemicals properly.
  • Reports hazardous or malfunctioning equipment to supervisor.
  • Develops relationships with staff and participates in training and orientation.

Job description

Summary of Responsibility:

The Dietary Aide is responsible for assisting with the preparation and service of food for all of the residents, while meeting the cleanliness needs of the Kitchen and Dining Room. All of this must be done in accordance with current applicable federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations, our established policies and procedures, and as may be directed by the Food Services Director to ensure that quality food service is provided at all times.

Duties:

  1. Maintains cleanliness of Kitchen and Dining Room.
  2. Ensures all dishware and preparation tools are clean and sanitized after each use.
  3. Assists in preparation and service of food using proper food handling and food safety techniques according to established policies and regulations.
  4. Keeps work area clean and uncluttered.
  5. Maintains the proper temperature of food during preparation and service. Records temperatures of food according to established policy.
  6. Maintains the proper temperature and sanitation of dish machine during use. Records temperatures of dish machine according to established policy.
  7. Labels, dates and stores food and chemicals properly according to established policies.
  8. Ensures that refrigerator/freezer temperatures are within the appropriate range and reports any discrepancies to the supervisor.
  9. Washes pots, pans, serving utensils, etc. according to established procedures for manual and/or automatic dishwashing. Then stores them away properly to avoid contamination.
  10. Reports all hazardous and malfunctioning equipment to the supervisor as directed.
  11. Makes recommendations to the Supervisor regarding improvements in equipment, etc. to enhance the quality of the food service.
  12. Develops and maintains a good working relationship, in a cooperative manner, with all employees in the food service department and other departments in the facility.
  13. Participate in programs for in-service education, on-the-job training and orientation classes for newly assigned department personnel.
  14. Maintains confidentiality of all pertinent resident care information to ensure resident rights are protected.

Education and Experience:

  1. Must be able to read, write and speak the English language.
  2. Must possess as a minimum, a high school diploma.
  3. Must be able to follow safety precautions in Dietary.
  4. Must wear appropriate slip resistant shoes.
  5. Recommended training in cost control, food management, diet therapy, etc.
