Job summary

Riverside is seeking a Dietary Aide to perform designated work and cleaning routines in the Dietary Department and to be accountable to the Dietary Manager. In the absence of the Dietary Manager, the Dietary Aide is accountable to theCook.

The role requires a High School graduate with preferred institutional dietary service experience, the ability to read and follow diet orders and tray cards, and to handle routine tasks with interruptions.

Qualifications

• High School graduate and previous institutional dietary service experience is preferred.
• Ability to read, understand and follow recipe directions, diet orders, tray cards and work assignments.
• Willingness to perform routine, repetitive tasks with frequent interruptions.
• Numerical accountability for recipe preparation and proper measuring of cleaning agents and chemicals; good motor coordination and manual dexterity are required.
• Able and willing to work flexible hours, such as during emergencies; patient and tolerant toward staff, residents, and family members.

Responsibilities

• Perform defined work routines using dietary utensils, supplies and equipment as assigned by the Dietary Manager.
• Provide assistance to the cook in the preparation and service of meals.
• Meet scheduled meal and snack times.
• Follow Federal and State long term care regulations and Dietary Department Policy and Procedures.
• Follow cleaning schedules and perform cleaning duties as scheduled.
• Assist in arranging tray cards, loading food carts and serving meals.
• Setting up the dining room and serving the residents.
• Wash and store dishes.
• Follow established reporting procedures for supplies and equipment needs.
• Report damaged or loose fixtures, flooring, or tiling requiring replacement or repair; report unsafe or malfunctioning equipment; report conditions conducive to vermin.
• Assist in receiving and storing food supplies.
• Understand and follow facility fire and disaster plans; participate in drills and emergencies.
• Follow facility Infection Control policy.
• Ensure residents are treated fairly with kindness, dignity and respect.
• Report grievances and complaints by residents to the Dietary Manager.
• Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Accept assigned duties cooperatively and take accountability for data in the handbook.
• Perform other department duties assigned by the Dietary Manager.
• Maintain high standards of sanitation and safe work environment.
