Job summary

SLP Operations is seeking a Dietary Aide to assist with food preparation, meal service, and maintaining the kitchen and dining areas in a long-term care setting.

Under the Dietary Manager's supervision, you will follow portion control, verify trays, ensure safety and sanitation, and support residents' rights while participating in training and team meetings.

This role may require long or irregular hours and regular interaction with residents, families, and regulatory staff.

Qualifications

• Experience in a healthcare food service setting preferred.
• Must interact positively with residents, families, and regulatory agencies.
• Must be able to work long or irregular hours, often under pressure.
• Must comply with health regulations and complete a post-offer health assessment.
• Able to read, write, and speak fluent English.
• Able to perform the essential functions of the position.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, floors, dishes, and utensils.
• Distribute menus and verify meal trays for accuracy and diet requirements.

• Assist with inventory and proper storage of incoming items.

• Assist in the preparation and serving of meals and snacks in accordance with established portion control procedures.
• Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, floors, dishes, and utensils.
• Distribute menus and verify meal trays for accuracy, including menu selections and prescribed diet requirements.
• Ensure proper storage and handling of food and supplies in compliance with safety standards.
• Follow Universal Precautions and all sanitary, safety, and infection control policies and procedures.
• Understand, comply with, and promote all rules regarding residents’ rights.
• Ensure adequate food and supplies are available for upcoming meals; assist with inventory control and proper storage of incoming items.
• Attend and actively participate in training sessions, educational activities, and staff meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Must be able to maintain consistent attendance and be willing to work long or irregular hours, often under pressure.
• Must comply with all local health regulations and successfully complete a post-offer health assessment.
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Physical and Sensory Requirements (with or without the use of mechanical devices):
• Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English to communicate effectively with residents, families, staff, and community agencies.
• Ability to perform physical activities such as walking, reaching, bending, stretching, pulling, and lifting.
• Adequate fine and gross motor coordination to carry out required tasks.

Work Environment

• Long-term care facility setting.
