Job summary

Taylor Regional Hospital is seeking a Diet Clerk/Cook to join the cafe team. You will prepare meals per recipes and dietary guidelines, assist patients with selections, and coordinate tray assembly with focus on accuracy and safety.

The role requires 2–3 years cooking experience and a high school diploma or equivalent. Weekend rotation is required, and a supportive hospital environment offers competitive pay and benefits. This is a full-time, in-house position.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 2–3 years experience as a cook preferred.
• Knowledge of food safety and HACCP guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals according to standardized recipes, menus, and prescribed dietary guidelines.
• Maintain accurate patient diet records, process diet orders, and update menus as needed.
• Visit patients to assist with meal selections and identify food preferences.
• Coordinate patient meal trays, ensuring accuracy, quality, and compliance with dietary restrictions.
• Assist with tray line operations, food preparation, and meal delivery.
• Monitor food temperatures, cooking times, and safe food handling practices per HACCP guidelines.
• Maintain clean and sanitary food preparation areas, equipment, and utensils.
• Assist with opening and closing the department and coordinating daily operations in the absence of supervisory staff.
• Provide courteous customer service, answer departmental calls, and address questions or concerns.
• Perform cashier duties, balance daily receipts, and prepare deposits and sales reports as assigned.
