  • Check and separate resident meal tickets to ensure meals include protein, vegetables, starch and dessert.
  • Identify any allergies and dietary restrictions; update allergy lists and labels as needed.
  • Input new menus for seasonal changes, special events, and holidays in NetMenu.

Job description

Position Summary:

The Diet Clerk will be responsible for maintaining accurate dietary records of residents, ensure meals are prepared according to their specific dietary needs and restrictions, and collaborate with dieticians in regard to resident meals. The Diet Clerk collects, maintains, and communicates data about the residents’ dietary requirements.

Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures.
  • Basic understanding of nutrition and dietary principles
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with residents, staff, and families
  • Proficiency with computer systems
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to meet acceptable background check standards.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Dietetic Technician, Registered (DTR)
  • Experience in a healthcare setting
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Checks and separates all resident meal tickets to ensure all necessary components include protein, vegetables,

starch, and dessert. Attached meal tickets to designated bin.

  • Identify any potential allergies and dietary restrictions.Update allergy list and labels as needed.
  • Inputs new menu for seasonal changes, special events, and holidays in NetMenu.Refers to NetMenu for correct diet/accuracy.
  • Deliver the next week of the menu cycle to each unit.
  • Prepares breakfast, lunch, and dinner tallies for hot production, cold production, and salad preparation.
  • Adjust any changes to meals as necessary.
  • Answer phone calls, including taking requests for residents to select second-choice meals. Make temporary and permanent changes in diets and nourishments.
  • Refers to Net Menu for correct diet/accuracy.
  • Prepare call downs during mealtimes. Prepare snack bags and juices as needed.
  • Check emails for incoming changes to resident preferences from Dieticians and add them to the Net menu as ` needed. Reprint tickets and change net menus when doctors' orders come in.
  • Monitor NPO orders as needed.
  • Check tray line as needed. Provides kitchen assistance as needed.
  • Take daycare orders over the phone for lunch and handle changed tickets accordingly.
  • Maintain a working relationship with other employees and staff.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisors.
  • Essential Physical Requirements*:Typically lifts 20 to 50 lbs.
