Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Dietary Aide to join the Food Services Kitchen. Under the Diet Supervisors, you will perform food service, dish room duties, and cash handling, while following hygiene and safety protocols.

The role requires reading and explaining meal tickets, providing courteous service, and supporting food production and cafeteria operations. Schedule includes 7AM-3:30PM and evening shifts; signing bonus may be available in interview.

Qualifications

• English reading/writing at an 8th-grade level (minimum).
• Preferred: High school graduate.
• Serve Safe certification required or preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follows proper hygiene and safety protocols (e.g., hand washing, gloves, HACCP).
• Maintains a sanitary and safe work environment.
• Prepares and delivers food trays accurately and efficiently.
• Operates dishwashing equipment and maintains cleanliness.

Schedule Details: Holidays - Every Other Holiday, Monday through Friday, Weekends (Saturday and Sunday)

Scheduled Hours: 7AM-3:30PM 11-Close 4PM-Close Shift: 2 - Evening Shift, 4 Hours (United States of America)

Under the direct supervision of the Diet Supervisors, the Dietary Aide performs a variety of food service, dish room duties, and cash handling duties as well as other related activities.

Major Responsibilities

• Follows proper hygiene and safety protocols (e.g., hand washing, glove usage, HACCP guidelines).
• Maintains a sanitary and safe work environment.
• Provides courteous customer service and communicates effectively.
• Prepares and delivers food trays accurately and efficiently.
• Operates dishwashing equipment and maintains cleanliness.
• Assists with food production, cafeteria service, and cashiering.
• Completes required training and adheres to departmental standards.
• Demonstrates flexibility, teamwork, and initiative in daily tasks.

• Complies with established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives.
• Attends a variety of meetings, conferences, and seminars as required or directed.
• Demonstrates use of Quality Improvement in daily operations.
• Complies with all health and safety regulations and requirements.

II. Position Qualifications

1. License/Certification/Education

• Required: Ability to read, write, speak & understand English at an 8th-grade level.
• Preferred: High school graduate.
• Serve Safe certification.

2. Experience/Skills

• Preferred: Food service experience in a healthcare facility.
• Good interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to read and comprehend patient meal ticket information.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Physical stamina for frequent movement and standing.
• Basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
