Job Description
SUMMARY:
Our Mechanic Shop is currently seeking an experienced full-time diesel mechanic to maintain our commitment to the safety of our company drivers. The successful candidate will perform tractor and trailer repairs and maintenance, conduct vehicle diagnostics, and collaborate with team members to meet company goals.
Responsibilities:
- Perform air brake service and maintenance
- Conduct preventative maintenance such as tire rotations, oil changes, transmission flushes, air conditioner re-charges, front-end alignments, battery replacements, and headlight/taillight replacements
- Collaborate with the shop Fleet Manager and repair team to diagnose issues and plan repairs
- Perform diagnostic tests on trucks
- Maintain accurate repair records
- Minimum of 3 years hands-on fleet mechanical experience
- Experience with tractors and trailers desired
- Knowledge of forklift repair preferred
- Supply own mechanic hand tools for tractor/trailer repairs
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Aspiring for a career in Fleet or Maintenance Management
- Basic welding skills (Oxy/Acetylene, MIG, ARC) desired
- Diagnose and repair vehicle air-conditioning systems
- Self-manage, prioritize tasks, and make decisions under pressure
- Ability to lift up to 100 pounds
- Excellent reading and writing skills
- Stay updated on industry best practices
- Knowledge of diagnostic tools and equipment
- Valid driver’s license for road service when needed
- Experience repairing forklifts or industrial equipment (e.g., Nissan, Hyundai, Komatsu, Yale, CAT)
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent, with 3+ years experience in diesel engines and hydraulics
- Experience with electronically controlled machinery and heavy equipment
- Ability to interpret hydraulic and electrical schematics and troubleshoot effectively
- Experience with diagnostic software
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Commitment to safety and responsible work practices
Physical Demands:
The physical requirements include:
- Standing, sitting, talking, hearing, and using hands for operation of tools and devices
- Lifting objects up to 100 pounds
- Climbing ladders up to 18 feet
- Kneeling, stretching, reaching, and turning
