Job summary

Ryder is seeking a Mid-Level Diesel Technician in Cheektowaga, New York. You will work on heavy‑duty vehicles with state‑of‑the‑art diagnostics and tools, on a second shift schedule (Tue–Sat). Eligible for a $1,250 sign‑on at 30 days and another at 90 days, plus quarterly bonuses and a certification bonus program.

The role includes on‑the‑job training, PPE provided, and tool/boot allowances. A CDL‑A is preferred; a HS diploma or equivalent is expected. Safety and quality come first in this team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Vocational or Technical Certification, preferred.
• Basic tools, required.
• Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including routine maintenance.
• Two (2) years or more of a combination of classroom training and work experience, preferred.
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties.
• Performs standard vehicle maintenance.
• Performs standard component inspections and repairs.
• Performs preventive maintenance.
• Diagnoses mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic tools.
• Identifies root cause of basic failures/conditions and performs repairs.
• Replaces defective components as instructed.
• Interacts with customers/drivers to determine nature of the complaint.
