Ryder is hiring a Mid-Level Diesel Technician in Austin, Indiana. This position offers weekly pay, comprehensive benefits after 30 days, and opportunities for salary growth through merit increases and bonuses.

The role requires hands-on repair of heavy‑duty vehicles, routine maintenance, and diagnostics, with a first shift from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Tuesday through Saturday. Candidates may also earn performance bonuses and participate in tuition reimbursement programs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Vocational or Technical Certification preferred.
• Basic tools required.
• Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including routine preventative maintenance.
• CDL Class A preferred; must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire.
• Pass Ryder Drug Test, DOT physical, and road test; background checks as part of the process.

Responsibilities

• Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties.
• Performs standard vehicle maintenance.
• Performs standard component inspections and repairs.
• Performs preventive maintenance.
• Diagnoses mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic tools when applicable.
• Identifies root causes and performs repairs as required.
• Replaces defective components as instructed.
• Performs facility maintenance duties.
• Interacts with customers/drivers to determine the nature of the complaint.
• Uses Shop Management System and electronic documentation.
• Adheres to safety, DOT, MOT and corporate compliance guidelines.
