Job summary

Penske Truck Leasing is seeking a automotive technician to perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on our fleet. You will log and complete repairs using Penske’s tools, rotate tires, and assist with lubrication and basic electrical/cooling system work.

You’ll learn new skills through Penske’s technician training and hands-on coaching, with schedule flexibility and opportunities for growth. This role requires a valid driver’s license and a commitment to safety and attendance.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred.
  • 1–2 years automotive or diesel repair experience (preferred).
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to solve problems and comfort using tools.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and independently.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Follow Penske safety policies (DOT/OSHA).
  • Regular, predictable, full attendance is essential.
  • DOT and FMCSA requirements for driving responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on Penske’s fleet.
  • Log, research and complete repairs using Penske’s tools and technologies.
  • Replace or rotate tires and lubricate/rebuild vehicle components; basic electrical and cooling system maintenance.
  • Learn new skills through Penske’s technician training and hands-on coaching.

Shift: Tue-Thurs 3:00pm-11:30pm, Fri 1:00pm-9:30pm, Sat 6:00am-2:30pm

Position Overview

As a Technician at Penske, you’ll perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on the newest and best maintained fleet of vehicles. You will help our customers keep their vehicles in shape and on the road.

Location: 100 Dessen Dr, Hazle Township, PA 18202

Main Responsibilities
  • Ensuring vehicles are maintained and safe for our customers
  • Using Penske’s tools and technologies to log, research and complete repairs, including basic vehicle diagnostics
  • Performing preventative maintenance repairs—such as replacing or rotating tires—and completing vehicle component lubrication and replacement, some electrical system repairs, and cooling system maintenance on gas and diesel engine vehicles
  • Partnering with your manager to learn new skills using Penske’s technician training and hands‑on coaching
  • Working on other projects and tasks as assigned by a supervisor

Qualifications

  • Basic mechanical aptitude and 1–2 years of automotive or diesel repair experience (preferred)
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to solve problems and comfort using tools
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills

  • Basic computer skills
  • Understand and comply with specific instructions, guidelines, rules, regulations, or other information established by Penske management
  • Perform all work adhering to DOT, OSHA, and all Penske safety and maintenance policies; including proper selection and use of appropriate tools, PPE, machine guarding, and established safety practices
  • Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
  • As this position requires driving Penske and customer vehicles, it is regulated by the DOT and requires a current driver qualification file to be maintained as required; the file includes an annual motor vehicle records check, a successfully completed DOT Physical, and Safety Performance History records request from prior employers in the last 3 years. CDL holders will undergo a DOT Drug Screening within 30 days of starting and a FMCSA Clearinghouse review
  • Willingness to work the required schedule, work at the specific location, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background screening (including criminal checks, past employment and education), pass a drug screen and physical as required by the Department of Transportation, and travel within a near geography for training

This position is regulated by the Department of Transportation or designated as safety sensitive by the company, and the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is required. Associates must have the ability to accept responsibility for their own safety, as well as the safety of others.

Physical Requirements
  • Will move frequently, stand, walk, climb, bend, and sit for extended periods during the scheduled work period
  • Use hands daily to grasp, reach, touch, handle, feel, and operate required tools or controls
  • Work safely at heights using applicable ladders and elevated platforms
  • Work safely in all weather conditions
  • See and hear to navigate a workplace with frequent movement of large trucks
  • Regularly lift or move up to 50lbs (23kg) and occasionally up to 100lbs (45kg). This position also requires the ability to push or pull truck tires that exceed 100 pounds
