Job summary

Penske Truck Leasing is seeking a Technician II in Mobile, AL to independently perform major and minor repairs, preventive maintenance, and road-test diagnosis on a diverse fleet. You will mentor newer technicians while expanding your skills in a safety-focused shop.

You’ll work first shift 6am–2pm with shift premiums and access to Penske’s training programs and state-of-the-art equipment. Competitive pay and benefits are offered as part of a stable career path.

Qualifications

• 3 years of practical experience with vehicle maintenance.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred.
• Specialized training in diagnosis/troubleshooting of major components (engines, transmissions, differentials), OEM training courses, ASE Certification, and 608/609 certifications (preferred).
• Experience using diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and power tools.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure vehicles are maintained and safe for customers.
• Perform preventive maintenance on truck and trailer equipment independently and timely.
• Repair and troubleshoot components such as engines, transmissions, differentials, turbochargers, fuel system components, etc.
• Keep the work area clean and safe.
• Use Penske’s tools and technologies to log, research, and complete repairs, including basic vehicle diagnostics.
• Learn new skills through Penske’s technician training.
• Assist with other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Work Schedule

Candidate must work first shift from 6am to 2pm. Schedules may include weekdays, weekends, and holidays based on business needs.

Shift Differentials

• Second shift ($2.00 starting after 11am)
• Third shift ($3.00 starting after 9pm)
• Weekend shift ($2.00 Saturdays and Sundays regardless of start time)

Qualifications

• Willingness to travel within the district, work required schedule and location, and pass background and drug screening

Physical Requirements

• Move frequently, stand, walk, climb, bend, and sit for extended periods
• Use hands daily to grasp, reach, touch, handle, and operate tools or controls
• Work safely at heights using ladders and elevated platforms
• Work safely in all weather conditions
• See and hear effectively to navigate the workplace with moving trucks
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs (23 kg) and occasionally up to 100 lbs (45 kg); push/pull truck tires that exceed 100 lbs
