Job summary

FleetPride in Irving, TX, seeks an experienced Technician III to master preventative maintenance on heavy-vehicle systems and train other technicians. You will diagnose complex failures and perform advanced repairs to ensure on-time service.

The role requires hands-on skills with class 7–8 trucks, brakes, engines, and electrical systems, plus the ability to mentor teammates and maintain a safe, efficient shop environment.

Qualifications

• Diesel technology degree or equivalent
• 7+ years of experience with Class 7 & 8 trucks
• Experience repairing 53’ trailers

Responsibilities

• Examine vehicles to determine extent of damage or malfunction(s)
• Train new service shop employees on company procedures regarding vehicle repairs
• Inspect orders for completion and quality before presentation or delivery to customers
• Perform inspections and preventative maintenance of vehicles and equipment
• Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, lubrications and filter replacements
• Repair, reline, replace, and adjust brakes (air, hydraulic, electric)
• Test drive vehicles and test components using proper equipment
• Troubleshoot and repair suspension systems including leaf and coil springs
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, exhaust systems, steering systems, A/C, PTOs and custom exhausts
• Adjust, remove and replace clutches and drivelines
• Overhaul, troubleshoot and repair diesel and gasoline engines
• Troubleshoot and repair fuel tanks and trailers components
• Perform tandem alignment and king pin repairs
• Perform basic welding
• Review service stories and determine tasks needed to complete orders
• File, grind, sand and smooth surfaces
• Remove upholstery and trim to access bodies
• Maintain a clean workspace
• Train new technicians on procedures
• Inspect orders for quality before delivery

Job description

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

A Technician III is a master of all aspects of Preventative Maintenance on all vehicle system with the ability to train and develop other Technicians. The Technician III will perform all major and advanced adjustments, repairs and component replacements. Perform advanced diagnostic operations in order to successfully diagnose vehicle system failures and suggest accurate system repairs.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Examine vehicles to determine extent of damage or malfunction(s)


• Train new service shop employees on company procedures regarding vehicle repairs.


• Inspect orders for completion and quality before presentation or delivery to customers.


• Perform inspections and preventative maintenance of vehicles and equipment.


• Perform routine and scheduled maintenance services such as oil changes, lubrications and filter replacements.


• Repair, reline, replace, and adjust brakes (air, hydraulic, electric and brake accessories).


• Test drive vehicles and test components using proper equipment.


• Troubleshoot and repair suspension systems including leaf and coil spring systems, and Hendrickson walking beam type suspension systems.


• Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, exhaust systems, steering systems, air conditioning, PTO”S and custom exhaust systems.


• Adjust, remove and replace clutches and drivelines.


• Overhaul, troubleshoot and repair diesel and gasoline engines.


• Troubleshoot and repair fuel tanks, fifth wheels, trailer hitches, pintle hooks, auxiliary axles and frames.


• Perform tandem alignment, front axle king pin and bushing repairs.


• Perform basic aluminum and steel wire welding.


• Review service story provided by service writers and determine tasks that need to be accomplished in order for the order to be completed in a timely manner.


• File, grind, sand and smooth filled or repaired surfaces, using power tools and hand tools.


• Remove upholstery, accessories, electrical window and seat operating equipment and trim to gain access to vehicle bodies and fenders.


• Train new service shop employees on company procedures regarding vehicle repairs.


• Inspect orders for completion and quality before presentation or delivery to customers.


• Maintain a clean and organized workspace.

EDUCATION & TRAINING

• Diesel Technology Associates degree


• 7 + years of experience with class 7 & 8 trucks


• Experience repairing 53’ trailers

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Must provide hand tools, air tools, and toolbox.

Maintain perfect safety record

Ability to train of Technicians

Strong customer service skills

Ability to lift 50lbs
