Job summary

Lakeside International Trucks in Milwaukee is seeking an experienced diesel technician to join its Service team. You’ll diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy‑duty trucks and engines with a focus on safety and efficiency, following dealership and OEM standards.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; Vocational or technical certification on vehicle repairs.
  • 5+ years of experience with diesel engines and heavy-duty trucks.
  • Training and experience in engine, transmission, differentials diagnosis; ASE, 608/609 certifications.
  • Ability to use diagnostic computers for troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Own toolset and valid CDL required or attainable; clean driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Perform work as outlined on repair orders with efficiency and accuracy per dealership and factory standards.
  • Diagnose vehicle problems based on customer complaints and inspections; advise on safety or service needs.
  • Troubleshoot and repair suspension, driveline, steering, brakes, engine, electrical systems.
  • Install components and parts including injectors, pistons, bearings, oil pans, clutches, transmissions.
  • Document all work performed and recommended repairs; conduct road tests as needed.
  • Adhere to company and industry safety standards; plan work for maximum efficiency.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development to support career and company goals.

Responsibilities
  • Perform work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards
  • Diagnose vehicle problems based on customer complaints/inspection and examine to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended
  • Troubleshoot and repair of suspension, driveline, steering components, brake system – air and hydraulic, engine repair, and electrical
  • Install injectors, pistons, liners, camshafts, cylinder heads, rod and main bearings, oil pans, clutches, fan hubs, differentials, fifth wheels, brakes, change or recharge batteries, and replace transmissions and other parts
  • Document all work performed and recommended repair orders
  • Conduct road test to ensure vehicle as needed
  • Adherence to all company and industry safety standards
  • Ability to organize the work presented and plan for the highest efficiency and productivity in the performance of all job functions
  • Continual training and development in support of individual career and company goals
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; Vocational or technical certification on vehicle repairs
  • 5+ years of experience working with diesel engines and heavy-duty trucks
  • Training and experience in the diagnosis/troubleshooting of major components (engines, transmissions, differentials), OEM training courses, ASE Certification, and 608/609 certifications
  • Ability to work with diagnostics computer for troubleshooting and repairs
  • Must have your own toolset to perform assigned responsibilities
  • Ability to obtain a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
What You Can Expect as an Experienced Diesel Technician

As an experienced diesel technician, you will work independently, performing both major and minor repairs. Diagnosing all-makes commercial trucks and buses and completing maintenance work consistent with Lakeside best practices and industry standards. As an expert, you are considered a lead technician and may serve as a mentor for developing diesel technicians at the dealership.
