Job summary

Dollar General Fleet is hiring Diesel Technicians in Zanesville, OH. This position ensures trucks, trailers, and yard tractors are in working order and compliant with federal standards to maximize safety and reliability across the fleet.

Qualified applicants have at least 1 year of Class A truck experience and knowledge of air brakes, hydraulics, and electrical systems. Welding and fabrication experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience on Class A trucks.
• Experience with air brakes, hydraulic and electrical systems.
• Welding and fabrication experience required.
• DOT inspections and compliance knowledge.
• Perform preventive maintenance and safety-focused repairs.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair truck and trailer components (doors, floors, side panels, electrical, air brakes).
• Perform PMs on tractor and trailer equipment and complete repair orders.
• Maintain repairs for Class 8 trucks, trailers and yard tractors.
• Support safe work environment and follow company safety rules.
• Assist drivers with addressing outstanding vehicle issues.
• Operate gauges, forklifts, shunt trucks, torches, grinders and hand tools.

About the Position

Requirements

• At least one (1) yearof experience working on Class A trucks
• Experience working with air brakes, hydraulic & electrical systems
• Prior welding and fabrication experience required
• Tire repair experience (repair, mounting, dismounting) preferred
• Perform DOT inspections and compliancy

Duties & Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair truck andtrailer components such as doors, floors, side panels, electrical and air brake systems
• Perform preventive maintenance (PMs) on tractor and trailer equipment, including routine technical repairs and completing repair orders
• Perform maintenance repairs as required to maximize safety and reliability on all fleet vehicles including tractors, trailers, lift-gates, and any company-owned equipment
• Abide by all Company policies and safety rules and assist in maintaining a clean, safe work environment
• Assist drivers with addressing outstanding vehicle issues
• Maintain repairs for Class 8 trucks, trailers and yard tractors
• Safely operates gauges, forklifts, shunt trucks, torches, grinders, and various hand and power safety tools
