Job summary

First Student, Inc. is seeking a qualified Diesel Mechanic III in Prattsburgh, NY to maintain and repair school buses for safety and reliability. This role offers a Monday–Friday, day-shift schedule with year-round work and a comprehensive benefits package.

You will diagnose and repair brakes, engines, suspensions, and drivetrains, while completing PMs and inspections. CDL Class B training is provided, and bonuses apply for ASE certifications, with opportunities for career growth across 540+

Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of diesel or automotive maintenance and repair experience.
Valid driver's license required.
CDL Class B or ability to obtain within 60 days of employment - Company paid training provided.
Possession of a mechanic's tool set to complete all assigned duties.
Willingness to participate in the ASE certification program (training, testing, and bonuses provided).
Strong computer skills.

Responsibilities

Maintain and repair school buses to ensure safety and reliability.
Diagnose and perform all phases of vehicle maintenance including brake repairs, engine tune-ups, suspensions, drive trains, and transmissions.
Perform preventive maintenance (PMs), safety inspections, and annual maintenance inspections.
Complete work orders accurately.
Assist with mobile emergency repair services when needed.
