Job summary

Coastal Waste & Recycling in Florida is seeking a Diesel Technician B (Advanced Technician) to keep our heavy trucks and equipment safe and productive. You will diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and air brakes while learning from Master Technicians.

Qualifications

• One (1) or more years of experience maintaining or repairing diesel trucks, heavy equipment, or related mechanical systems.
• Basic knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, brakes, suspension, and preventive maintenance.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• Must provide and maintain a basic set of professional tools.
• ASE certifications, Brake Certification, Class A CDL, refuse industry experience, and bilingual skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, steering, suspension, transmissions, and air brake systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections to maximize reliability of trucks and equipment.
• Repair and maintain refuse trucks, vocational vehicles, trailers, and heavy equipment.
• Utilize diagnostic software and electronic testing equipment to identify equipment failures.
• Perform welding, fabrication, and component repairs when qualified.
• Accurately complete repair orders, inspections, maintenance documentation, and parts records.
• Work alongside Master Technicians while continuing to build your technical knowledge and skills.
• Respond to emergency repairs and operational needs as assigned.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment following OSHA regulations and company safety standards.
• Wear required PPE and promote a strong safety culture.

Your Role

As a Diesel Technician B (Advanced Technician), you'll inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy-duty trucks, refuse vehicles, trailers, and equipment while continuing to expand your technical expertise. You'll perform preventive maintenance, complete intermediate and advanced repairs, work alongside experienced Master Technicians, and help maximize equipment reliability and operational uptime.

What You'll Bring

• One (1) or more years of experience maintaining or repairing diesel trucks, heavy equipment, commercial vehicles, or related mechanical systems.
• Basic knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, brakes, suspension, and preventive maintenance.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• Must provide and maintain a basic set of professional tools.
• ASE certifications, Brake Certification, Class A CDL, refuse industry experience, and bilingual (English/Spanish or English/Creole) are a plus.
