Job summary

Morgan Auto Group seeks a qualified Diesel Service Technician to join our automotive team in Florida. You will perform vehicle repair and maintenance per dealer and factory standards, with minimal supervision, and contribute to our commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • Must have previous diesel technician experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information.

Responsibilities

  • Receive repair orders from dispatcher and move vehicles to stalls.
  • Perform repairs and maintenance per dealer and factory standards.
  • Communicate with parts to obtain needed items and advise if more work is needed.
  • Attend factory-sponsored training and stay updated with factory bulletins.
  • Road-test vehicles to verify quality and ensure safety.

OVERVIEW:

The Diesel Service Technicianis responsible forperforming vehicle repair and maintenance work as assignedin accordance withdealer and factory standards. A technician is expected to perform quality work without direct or continual supervision and be able and willing to work on all work assigned to him/her.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Receive repair orders fromdispatcheron computerterminaland takevehicleto stall areas.
  • Perform work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy,in accordance withdealership and factory standards.
  • Communicate withpartsdepartment to obtain needed parts. Inform ASM and Dispatcher ifvehicleis down awaiting parts and pursue special ordering of parts, ifappropriate.
  • Attend factory-sponsored training classes.
  • Keep abreast of factory technical bulletins.
  • Save and tag parts if the job is under warranty or if requested by the customer.
  • Examine the vehicle todetermineifadditionalsafety or service work isrequired.
  • Communicate requests foradditionalwork and estimates to the ASM using the RE terminal command.
  • Inform Service Advisorimmediatelyifadditionalwork is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the time promised.
  • Diagnose cause of any malfunction and perform repair, if authorized by the customer.
  • Document work performed on each vehicle on the Repair Order using the concern, cause, correctionformat.
  • Tell the technician’s story as clearly as possible on your terminal as this is what the customer will see and how the billing will bedetermined.
  • Road-test vehicles toquality-checkwork performed. Seat belts must beworn at all times.
  • Supervise work of any inexperienced technicians as assigned.
  • Continuallymonitorstatusof each vehicle and inform the ASM. Escalate wait jobs as much as possible.
  • Monitor promised times and inform ASM if there will be a problem meeting a promise time as soon as it becomesapparent.
  • Fix itrightthe first time!
  • Keep current on all Manufacturer’s testing and exams.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must havepreviousDiesel Technician Experience.
  • High school diploma orthe equivalent.
  • Ability to read andcomprehendinstructions and information.
  • ASE certification preferred.
  • General mechanical skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and have andmaintainan acceptable, safe driving record.
  • Good judgment.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
