Job summary

Ryder Supply Chain Solutions in Sacramento, CA is seeking a Senior Level Diesel Technician to perform maintenance and repair on diesel engines and heavy‑duty equipment. You will diagnose complex mechanical/electronic issues, complete preventive maintenance, and interact with drivers to determine the nature of the problem.

The role requires strong technical skills, relevant certifications where possible, and the ability to obtain a CDL within 6 months.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
• Vocational or technical certification; post‑secondary degree or technical certifications (preferred).
• Minimum 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy‑duty and medium‑duty equipment.
• Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire and pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, road test and background checks

Responsibilities

• Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including standard and preventive maintenance, diagnosing complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computer, completing inspections and repairs with minimal supervision, replacing defective components, and working unsupervised on most tasks
• Perform facility maintenance duties
• Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint once assigned a task
• Utilize key functions of shop management system and electronic documentation
• Work in accordance with federal/provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)
• Act as mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels
• Access and use internal and external maintenance documents
• Perform other support duties as required to support operations, including Service Island support
• Complete SBTIII training within 180 days (SBT220) and 2 OEM online diagnostic scan tool software courses within 365 days

Ryder is hiring a Senior Level Diesel Technician in Sacramento, California. The position offers a stable company, weekly pay, and excellent benefits.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
• Vocational or technical certification; post‑secondary degree or technical certifications (preferred)
• Basic tools required
• Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventive maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work) and basic diagnostics and repairs (AC and electrical systems)
• Three (3) years or more relevant work experience (preferred)
• All other certifications required by location (required)
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred)
