Job summary

Ryder in Richland, Mississippi is hiring a Mid-Level Diesel Technician. You will perform vehicle maintenance and repair on diesel engines, including routine preventative tasks, with a second shift (12:30 pm – 9:00 pm) and a Tue–Sat schedule.

The position pays $27.25 per hour with weekly pay and a comprehensive benefits package. Medical, dental, and vision insurance after 30 days; PTO from day one (up to 80 hours first year); 401(k) match; tuition repayment up to $5,000; PPE and uniforms; paid

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Vocational or technical certification preferred.
• Basic tools are required.
• Two years or more of classroom training and work experience are preferred.
• CDL Class A preferred; must obtain CDL within 6 months after hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties.
• Performs standard vehicle maintenance and inspections.
• Diagnoses mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic tools.
• Identifies root causes and performs repairs as required.
• Interacts with customers/drivers to determine nature of the complaint.
• Performs facility maintenance duties.

• Hourly Pay:$27.25 per hour
• Certification Bonus of $100 for each New ASE Certification Obtained up to $700
• Quarterly Bonus: Ryder Pays you up to $500 Every Quarter - Four Times Per Year

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Vocational or Technical Certification Post Secondary degree or Technical Certifications, preferred
• Basic tools, required
• Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including:
  • Routine preventative maintenance, which should include oil changes, brake and tire work, required
• Two (2) years or more of a combination of classroom training and work experience in required experience, preferred
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A, preferred

• This position requires for you to drive Ryder vehicles. In order to become a Ryder employee you must:
  • Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
  • Pass a Ryder Drug Test
  • Pass a DOT physical
  • Pass a Ryder road test
  • Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years

Responsibilities

• Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties
• Performs standard vehicle maintenance
• Performs standard component inspections and repairs
• Performs preventive maintenance
• Diagnoses standard mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable
• Identifies root cause of basic failures/conditions and perform repairs as required
• Replaces defective components as instructed
• Performs facility maintenance duties
• Interacts with customers/drivers to properly determine nature of complaint once assigned a task
