Job summary

Ryder Supply Chain Solutions is hiring a Mid-Level Diesel Technician in Norton, MA. You will perform vehicle maintenance and repairs on heavy-duty diesel vehicles, conduct inspections, and diagnose issues using diagnostic equipment.

The role offers weekly pay and robust benefits, including medical/dental/vision after 30 days, PTO, 401(k) with company match, tuition reimbursement, and opportunities for advancement. Evening shifts with competitive pay are available.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of diesel engines and preventative maintenance practices.
• Ability to diagnose mechanical/electrical issues with diagnostic tools.
• CDL-A license preferred for driving duties or requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties on heavy-duty diesel vehicles.
• Conduct standard vehicle inspections and routine preventive maintenance.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic equipment.
• Replace defective components and perform component repairs as needed.
• Interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of the issue and task.
• Maintain accurate service records in the Shop Management System.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Vocational or Technical Certification Post Secondary degree or Technical Certifications, preferred
• Basic tools, required
• Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including:
• Routine preventative maintenance, which should include oil changes, brake and tire work, required
• Two (2) years or more of a combination of classroom training and work experience in required experience, preferred
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A, preferred

Responsibilities

• Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties
• Performs standard vehicle maintenance
• Performs standard component inspections and repairs
• Performs preventive maintenance
• Diagnoses standard mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable
• Identifies root cause of basic failures/conditions and perform repairs as required
• Replaces defective components as instructed
• Performs facility maintenance duties
• Interacts with customers/drivers to properly determine nature of complaint once assigned a task
• Utilizes key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation available
• Works in accordance with all federal/ provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT, MOT)
• Performs other support duties as required to support operations. These could include but are not limited to Service Island support
