Job summary

Ryder System, Inc. is seeking an experienced Mid-Level Diesel Technician in Manassas, VA. The role offers weekly pay, comprehensive benefits, and opportunities to advance in a maintenance career for heavy-duty vehicles.

Typical pay starts at $28.00 per hour with bonus opportunities and a strong benefits package including medical, dental, and vision coverage after 30 days. The position runs on the second shift (3:00 pm – 11:30 pm) with weekends off and paid training provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Vocational or Technical Certification preferred.
• Basic tools required.
• Experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines.
• Two years or more of classroom training and work experience.
• Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire.
• Pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, road test and background check.

Responsibilities

• Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties.
• Performs standard vehicle maintenance.
• Performs standard component inspections and repairs.
• Diagnoses mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computer when applicable.
• Identifies root cause of failures/conditions and performs repairs as required.
• Replaces defective components as instructed.
• Performs facility maintenance duties.
• Interacts with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint.
• Uses Shop Management System and electronic documentation.
• Works in accordance with safety, DOT, MOT guidelines.
• Performs other support duties as required to support operations.

• Hourly Pay:$28.00 per hour
• Certification Bonus of $100 for each New ASE Certification Obtained up to $700

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Vocational or Technical Certification Post Secondary degree or Technical Certifications, preferred
• Basic tools, required
• Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including:
• Routine preventative maintenance, which should include oil changes, brake and tire work, required
• Two (2) years or more of a combination of classroom training and work experience in required experience, preferred
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A,preferred
• This position requires for you to drive Ryder vehicles. In order to become a Ryder employee you must:
• Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
• Pass a Ryder Drug Test
• Pass a DOT physical
• Pass a Ryder road testPass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years

Some positions require additional screening that may include employment and education verification; motor vehicle records check and a road test; and/or badging or background requirements of the customer to which you are assigned.

• Utilizes key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation available
• Works in accordance with all federal/ provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT, MOT)
• Performs other support duties as required to support operations. These could include but are not limited to Service Island support
