Job summary

Nextran Truck Centers in Duluth, GA is seeking a Diesel Technician to diagnose and repair medium- and heavy-duty diesel engines. The role requires hands-on experience, certification, and the ability to work with Parts and Service teams to keep repairs on schedule.

You will mentor apprentices, stay current with OEM bulletins, and contribute to a safe, efficient work environment at a multi-dealership network that offers comprehensive benefits and career growth.

Qualifications

  • 3–5+ years of diesel diagnostic experience (10+ years preferred).
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record (CDL is a plus).
  • Cummins Engine Repair Certification is required.
  • Master Technician certifications in multiple areas preferred.
  • ASE Certifications are a plus.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Intermediate computer skills, including proficiency with email, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and the ability to learn and use dealership management and diagnostic software.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

Diesel Technician – Duluth, GA

Candidates must successfully complete a pre‑employment drug screening, background investigation, physical abilities assessment, and motor vehicle record (MVR) check.

Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and repair medium‑and heavy‑duty diesel engines and related systems.
  • Perform complete engine and transmission rebuilds.

Physical Requirements
  • Lift up to 50 lbs. regularly, 75 lbs. frequently, and over 100 lbs. occasionally with assistance or appropriate equipment.
  • Stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb throughout the workday.
  • Safely operate hand tools, power tools, torque wrenches, and shop equipment.
  • Work above shoulder height and underneath vehicles using creepers or lifting equipment.
  • Enter and exit truck cabs and access engine compartments safely.
