Job summary

M&K Truck Centers in Des Plaines, IL is hiring Diesel Technicians to diagnose, maintain, and repair heavy‑duty trucks (Mack/ Volvo and others). We welcome entrants from tech school through seasoned mechanics; CDL is preferred but not required.

You’ll work on diesel engines, brakes, suspensions, electrical and emissions, document repairs, and collaborate with service teams. We offer paid training, OEM certifications, and a clear path for career growth in a dynamic, employee‑owned ESOP

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Diesel technician school or technical training is preferred but not required.
• Experience with semi‑truck repair, fleet maintenance, or heavy equipment repair is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair diesel trucks (Mack, Volvo, and others).
• Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on heavy‑duty trucks.
• Repair and service diesel engines, brake systems, suspension, electrical and emissions systems.
• Accurately document repairs, parts, and labor; work with service advisors.

We are hiring Diesel Technicians / Truck Technicians to perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repair on new and late-model semi-trucks. This role is ideal for candidates with experience or interest in diesel engine repair, heavy‑duty truck maintenance, and fleet service.

We are actively hiring at all experience levels, including:

• Entry-level / recent tech school graduates
• Mid-level technicians with hands‑on experience
• Senior diesel mechanics

Key Responsibilities

• Perform diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repair on diesel trucks (Mack, Volvo, and other makes)
• Complete preventative maintenance and inspections on heavy‑duty trucks
• Repair and service:
  • Diesel engines (Cummins, Volvo, Mack, Detroit, etc.)
  • Brake systems, suspension, electrical, and emissions systems
• Accurately document all repairs, parts, and labor
• Work closely with service advisors and service managers
• Deliver high-quality, efficient repairs while maintaining productivity
• Provide excellent customer‑focused service

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Diesel technician school or technical training is preferred but not required
• Experience with semi‑truck repair, fleet maintenance, or heavy equipment repair
• CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) – preferred, not required
• Mechanical aptitude and strong work ethic
• Minimum 18 months diesel repair or mechanical experience (preferred, not required for entry‑level roles)
• Ability to work in a shop environment and collaborate with a team
• Must own a basic set of tools
