Job summary

Allegiance Truck Centers, located in Utica, New York, is seeking a Mobile Diesel Technician to join our team. This role involves traveling to customer sites, providing technical services, and performing a range of repairs on various brands of trucks. Candidates should have at least 1-2 years of experience and possess a valid driver’s license along with a full set of tools.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years minimum work experience as a Medium and/or Heavy Diesel Technician.
• Completion of diesel/automotive certificate programs in repairs and service, or equivalent hands-on experience.

Responsibilities

• Travel to customer worksite to maintain and repair vehicles.
• Provide technical service including troubleshooting and repair.
• Read Repair Orders and perform general and detailed repairs.
• Verify repairs by driving the vehicle post-repair.

Skills

Mechanical aptitude

Experience with truck brands (International, Isuzu, Ford, etc.)

Valid driver's license

Detailed knowledge of commercial truck and engine repair

Ability to use basic computer applications

Education

High School Diploma/GED

Vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair

Tools

Job Responsibilities For Mobile Diesel Technician

• Travel to customer worksite to maintain and repair customer vehicles
• Provide technical service on vehicles and equipment including troubleshooting, electrical and diagnostic services
• Read Repair Orders and perform general and detailed repair of all trucks, engines and components
• Install injectors, pistons, liners, cam shafts, cylinder heads, rod & main bearings, oil pans, clutches, fan hubs, differentials, fifth wheels, brakes, change or recharge batteries, and replace transmissions and other parts
• Examine protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on trucks, and adjust as needed
• Lubricate moving parts and drive repaired vehicle to verify conformance to specifications and verify repairs
• Advise the Service staff if additional repair work is necessary
• Tag all return warranty parts
• Maintain a neat, orderly, and safe work environment and handle company tools properly
• Follow safe work practices and procedures; use safety equipment when required; respond to safety suggestions and seek assistance when necessary
• Other projects or initiatives as assigned

Required Skills For Mobile Diesel Technician

• Positive attitude with mechanical aptitude
• Experience with brands such as International, Isuzu, Ford, Cummins, Detroit Diesel, CAT, Allison, Freightliner, Volvo, Mack, Kenworth or Peterbilt is encouraged to apply
• 1-2 years minimum work experience as a Medium and/or Heavy Diesel Technician
• Valid driver’s license
• Full set of personal hand tools
• Detailed knowledge of commercial truck and engine repair
• Completion of diesel/automotive certificate programs in repairs and service, or equivalent hands-on experience
• Ability to use a personal computer and basic applications
• Minimum of High School Diploma/GED; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred
