Job summary

Priority Towing & Recovery, Inc. is seeking a Fleet Diesel Mechanic in Randallstown, MD. You will diagnose, repair, and maintain a fleet of diesel-powered vehicles, perform preventive maintenance, and troubleshoot complex systems.

You will use diagnostic equipment, maintain records in our fleet system, and ensure DOT safety compliance while supporting roadside assistance as needed.

Qualifications

• ASE certification in Medium/Heavy Truck or equivalent is required.
• Minimum 5 years of diesel engine maintenance experience in a fleet setting.
• Proficient with modern diagnostic tools and electronic control systems.
• Ability to lift heavy parts and work in varied weather conditions.
• Strong problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel-powered trucks, buses, and specialty vehicles.
• Perform preventive maintenance and routine services (oil changes, lubrication, etc.).
• Use diagnostics to troubleshoot engine, transmission, brake, and electrical issues.
• Record services and parts in the fleet management system.
• Ensure compliance with DOT safety standards.
• Assist with emergency roadside service and collaborate with fleet managers.

Job Description:
As a Fleet Diesel Mechanic with us, you will:

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain a wide range of diesel-powered vehicles including trucks, buses, and specialty vehicles.


• Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and routine services like oil changes, lubrication, and component replacements.


• Use diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot complex engine, transmission, brake, and electrical issues.


• Maintain accurate records of all services, repairs, and parts used for each vehicle in our fleet management system.


• Ensure all work complies with DOT regulations and other safety standards.


• Participate in emergency roadside assistance for fleet vehicles when necessary.


• Collaborate with other mechanics and fleet managers to improve efficiency and vehicle uptime.

Qualifications:

• Certification: ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certification in Medium/Heavy Truck or equivalent is highly .


• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of direct experience with diesel engine maintenance and repair, with a focus on fleet management.


• Technical Skills: Proficient with modern diagnostic tools, understanding of electronic control systems, and familiarity with diesel engine emissions systems.


• Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift heavy parts, work in various weather conditions, and navigate around heavy equipment safely.


• Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills to identify issues quickly and devise effective repair strategies.


• Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills for interacting with team members, fleet managers, and occasionally with drivers.
