Job summary

GFL is seeking a skilled heavy‑duty diesel mechanic in Topeka, Kansas to safely operate, repair, rebuild and maintain company owned or leased trucks and equipment, ensuring safe operation.

Starting pay is $30-$35 per hour with additional pay based on experience, certifications and skill level; shift is 11:00 am to 7:30 pm, Monday to Friday, with overtime after 40 hours, and training on the first shift during the first 90 days.

Qualifications

• Experience repairing diesel refuse trucks or heavy-duty trucks.
• Ability to diagnose issues in hydraulic, electrical, brake and suspension systems.
• Proven troubleshooting and repair skills to keep fleet operational.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily inspections and troubleshoot issues on diesel refuse trucks.
• Repair hydraulic, electrical, brakes, suspension, PTO systems and other components.
• Carry out preventative maintenance and needed repairs to ensure safe operation.

Safely operate, repair, rebuild and perform maintenance on Company owned or leased heavy duty diesel trucks and equipment including rolling stock to ensure its ability to operate safely

Starting Pay: $30-$35/hr More pay available based on EXP, CERTS and SKILL LEVEL.

Shift: 11am-730pm M-F. OT after 40hrs worked. Will be trained on first shift the first 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily inspections, diagnose issues, troubleshoot problems, and complete repairs on Diesel Refuse Trucks.
• Repair and troubleshoot hydraulic systems, electrical systems, brakes, suspension, PTO systems, and other truck components.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical issues to keep Refuse Trucks operating safely and reliably.
• Perform preventative maintenance and complete repairs to ensure fleet vehicles are ready for daily operation.
