Job summary

Hendrick Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram FIAT of Concord is seeking a Diesel Technician to keep customer vehicles and fleets operating smoothly. The role emphasizes diagnostics, heavy-duty repairs, and preventive maintenance in a fast-paced service environment.

Qualified candidates will have diesel repair expertise across systems, valid license, and manufacturer/ASE certifications. This position offers on-site work with comprehensive paid training and a generous sign-on bonus up to $10,000.

Qualifications

  • Diesel repair expertise across diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics and heavy equipment systems.
  • Valid driver’s license and manufacturer/sensor training as required.
  • ASE certifications and manufacturer training completed or in progress.
  • Experience with diagnostic tools and schematics; strong safety compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive diagnostics on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspensions and air brake systems.
  • Conduct repairs and maintenance for diesel engines and heavy-duty vehicles.
  • Maintain and repair shocks, HVAC, tires, brakes and powertrain components.
  • Use hand/power tools and welding equipment; follow safety standards.
  • Record repairs, communicate status to customers, and participate in required training.

Job Summary: In this vital role at Hendrick Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram FIAT, your expertise as a Diesel Technician will keep customer vehicles, trucks, and commercial fleet vehicles operating smoothly, supporting our operational excellence!

Pay Range: Up to $50 per hour (based on factors such as Diesel Technician level, Chrysler certifications, and job performance).

Job Responsibilities:
  • Perform comprehensive diagnostics on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspensions, air brake systems, and other heavy equipment components using schematics and automotive diagnostics tools.
  • Conduct repairs and maintenance for a variety of diesel engines and heavy-duty vehicles.
  • Maintain and repair vehicle systems including shocks & struts, HVAC systems, tires, brakes, alignments, and powertrain components to ensure safety and reliability.
  • Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other specialized tools to complete repairs efficiently while adhering to safety standards.
  • Interpret technical schematics and manuals to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues accurately.
  • Perform preventive maintenance routines to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of vehicles.
  • Assist with heavy lifting tasks using appropriate equipment while following safety protocols.
  • Provide excellent customer service by communicating repair status clearly and offering recommendations for ongoing maintenance needs.
  • Keep detailed records of all repairs performed for compliance and future reference.
  • Effectively utilizes available technologies to enhance customer experience.
  • Maintain an organized, clean and safe work area.
  • Participate in required training.
  • Records all hours worked accurately in company timekeeping system.
  • Follow Safeguards rules and regulations.
  • Demonstrate the Company’s Core Values, Comply with Company policies and procedures, Observe all Federal, State, Local and Company safety rules and regulations in the performance of duties.

Certificates and Licenses:
  • √ Valid Driver’s License
  • √ Certified/senior technician with respective manufacturer.
  • √ State inspection/emissions license required by State.
  • √ All required manufacturer fundamental training and/or NAPA training provided by HAG.
  • √ Meets and/or exceeds manufacturer requirements for ASE tests.
  • √ Completed manufacturer training to perform: warranty repairs/recalls on most vehicles, PDI’s, maintenance, and minor repairs.
Computer Skills:

Basic Computer skills to utilize timekeeping system. Ability to learn parts department computer inventory and ordering system.

Communication Skills:

Ability to understand and follow instructions. Ability to communicate effectively with customers and company personnel.

Attendance Expectations:

The position requires regular and predictable attendance. Scheduled shifts may include evening hours, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Demands:

Must be able to lift up to (50) pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Environment Demands:

Duties are performed primarily in the service area. Work includes movement around vehicles, working in various physical positions, and the safe operation of power tools and test equipment. May be exposed to loud noise, vibration, exhaust fumes, and other service and repair conditions. Frequently interacts with customers, service advisors and the service manager.

Verbal and Writing Ability:

Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees.
