Job summary

Ryder is hiring a Mid-Level Diesel Technician in York, Pennsylvania, to maintain and repair diesel and gasoline engines on fleet vehicles. The role offers weekly pay, a comprehensive benefits package, and opportunities for certification bonuses.

Work hours are second shift, 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm, Monday–Friday with weekends off. Applicants should have a high school diploma (preferred), basic tools, and demonstrated repair experience; CDL-A preferred with potential for growth and pay progression.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
• Vocational or technical certification, post-secondary degree, or technical certifications (preferred)
• Basic tools required
• Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work)
• Two (2) years or more of a combination of classroom training and work experience (preferred)
• Valid CDL Class A (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including standard maintenance and component inspections
• Execute preventive maintenance and diagnose standard mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers when applicable
• Identify root causes of basic failures/conditions and perform required repairs
• Replace defective components as instructed
• Carry out facility maintenance duties
• Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaints and assign tasks
• Utilize key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation
• Adhere to all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)
• Perform other support duties to support operations (e.g., service island support)

Ryder is hiring a Mid-Level Diesel Technician in York, Pennsylvania — providing a stable company for your career with weekly pay and excellent benefits.

Compensation and Schedule

• Hourly Pay: $28.50 per hour
• Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE Certification obtained up to $700
• Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter (four times per year)
• Sign‑On Bonus: $1,250 at 30 days and $1,250 at 90 days
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, weekends off
• Hours: Second Shift 3:00 pm – 11:30 pm

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
• Vocational or technical certification, post‑secondary degree, or technical certifications (preferred)
• Basic tools required
• Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work)
• Two (2) years or more of a combination of classroom training and work experience (preferred)
• Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A (preferred)

Additional Certification Requirements

• Must obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
• Pass a Ryder drug test
• Pass a DOT physical
• Pass a Ryder road test
• Pass a Ryder background and motor‑vehicle check (including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years)
