Position Description
Ryder is hiring a Mid-Level Diesel Technician in York, Pennsylvania — providing a stable company for your career with weekly pay and excellent benefits.
Compensation and Schedule
- Hourly Pay: $28.50 per hour
- Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE Certification obtained up to $700
- Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter (four times per year)
- Sign‑On Bonus: $1,250 at 30 days and $1,250 at 90 days
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, weekends off
- Hours: Second Shift 3:00 pm – 11:30 pm

Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
- Vocational or technical certification, post‑secondary degree, or technical certifications (preferred)
- Basic tools required
- Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work)
- Two (2) years or more of a combination of classroom training and work experience (preferred)
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A (preferred)
Additional Certification Requirements
- Must obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
- Pass a Ryder drug test
- Pass a DOT physical
- Pass a Ryder road test
- Pass a Ryder background and motor‑vehicle check (including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years)
Responsibilities
- Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including standard maintenance and component inspections
- Execute preventive maintenance and diagnose standard mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers when applicable
- Identify root causes of basic failures/conditions and perform required repairs
- Replace defective components as instructed
- Carry out facility maintenance duties
- Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaints and assign tasks
- Utilize key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation
- Adhere to all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)
- Perform other support duties to support operations (e.g., service island support)
