Job summary

United Ag & Turf is seeking a full-time service technician to independently perform complex diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on customer agricultural, construction, and turf equipment. You may work with guidance from the Service Manager or Shop Foreman while mentoring trainees.

Responsibilities include diagnostics, repairs, documentation, and staying current with John Deere and competitor products. Strong teamwork and communication are essential, along with a valid toolset and a high school

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; Associates degree preferred.
• Experience with diagnostics and repairs on heavy equipment.
• Ability to follow Technical Manual procedures and safety rules.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair John Deere equipment and technology.
• Mentor Service Technician Trainees and Service Technicians.
• Accountable for billable time and assigned work orders.
• Document diagnostics and repairs thoroughly and submit work orders on time.
• Participate in Service EDUCATE Training to develop skills.
• Operate and maintain vehicles, tools, and equipment required for the job.
• Keep a clean, safe, and orderly work area; follow all safety regulations.
• Maintain knowledge of John Deere and competitive products.

Purpose

Independently performs complex diagnostics, service repairs and maintenance work on customer agricultural, compact construction, and turf equipment. May require some direction or guidance from the Service Manager, Service Advisor, or Shop Foreman.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostics and repairs on John Deere equipment and technology
• Mentor Service Technician Trainees and Service Technicians
• Accountable for billable time and assigned work orders
• Responsible for complete and thorough documentation of diagnostics and repairs performed on work orders and on-time submittal of information
• May participate in Service EDUCATE Training programs required for the development of skills and knowledge
• Operate and maintain vehicles, tools, and equipment required to perform job responsibilities
• Maintain a clean work area and perform work in a neat and orderly fashion
• Follow all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments
• Maintain current knowledge of John Deere and competitive products

Experience, Education, Skills And Knowledge

• Experience performing service repairs; demonstrated experience consistently meeting performance metrics preferred
• Experience performing repairs and maintenance using special tools and equipment following Technical Manual procedures on machines of the Technician’s specialty
• Experience with the mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems used in off road, construction, lawn, or heavy equipment
• Experience operating vehicles, tools, and equipment for diagnostic purposes
• Basic computer skills; experience using Service ADVISOR or other computer-based diagnostic repair tools preferred
• Experience working cooperatively in a team environment
• Experience communicating effectively verbally and in writing
• Must have an adequate toolset to perform job responsibilities
• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience required; Associates degree preferred
