Job summary

J&J Trash Service/Patriot Disposal/Apple Valley Waste in Mount Airy, MD is hiring a Diesel Mechanic to keep our waste collection fleet operating at peak performance.

You will diagnose, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and air brakes, with a focus on reliability and safety. We offer growth opportunities as our operations expand and a competitive compensation package.

Qualifications

• Experience as a diesel mechanic, preferably with waste management or truck fleets.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical and air brake systems.
• High school diploma or equivalent; CDL a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance on diesel-powered trucks and heavy equipment.
• Repair and replace worn parts such as brakes, engines, hydraulics, transmissions, and air systems.
• Conduct routine inspections and maintenance to ensure peak fleet efficiency.
• Maintain accurate records of parts used, hours worked, and services performed.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues and ensure safety compliance.
• Collaborate with other mechanics and supervisors to prioritize repairs.
