Job summary

Performance Foodservice in Easthampton, MA is seeking a skilled fleet technician to diagnose and repair medium to heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and reefer units. The role involves preventative maintenance, component inspections, and accurate documentation of repairs using our Enterprise Asset Management system.

The position requires 5–7 years of vehicle repair experience, including PMs, electrical troubleshooting, and A/C refrigeration knowledge, with a schedule that includes on-call road service

Qualifications

  • Requires high school diploma or equivalent.
  • 5–7 years of proven medium to heavy-duty vehicle repair experience including PMs and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Experience with A/C refrigeration is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair medium to heavy-duty trucks, trailers, reefer units and related fleet equipment with minimal supervision.
  • Inspect brakes, steering, wheel bearings and other critical components; replace parts as needed.
  • Ensure roadworthiness by verifying licensing and registrations; complete thorough work-order documentation.
  • Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, battery checks, and lubrication; use hand and power tools as required.
  • Communicate with coworkers and participate in road call services when needed.

Position Purpose:

Responsible for diagnosing and repairing medium to heavy-duty trucks, trailers, reefer units, converter dolly and maintenance vehicles under minimal supervision. Ensure compliance with all State and Federal trucking regulations. Communicates and interacts with co-workers. Technicians are responsible for the documentation, completion, and keeping the work orders for all repairs and parts used daily. The position will be required to perform road call services as needed.

Primary Responsibilities:

Complete and perform preventative maintenance on minor repairs and standard component inspections/ repairs of fleet diesel equipment (tractors, trailers, refrigeration units) as well as, identifying root cause of basic failures/conditions and perform repairs as requiredInspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other important parts to ensure that they are in proper operating condition which may require replacement of partsEnsure equipment has required licensing and registration prior to being deemed as "roadworthy"Complete thorough documentation for work orders of repairs and preventative maintenance through the online Enterprise Asset Management systemInstall, replace, and repair onboard computersUse hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, and precision instruments, as well as power tools such as pneumatic wrenches, welding equipment, and jacks and hoistsPerform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries and lubricating equipment and machinery requiring the use of hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, and precision instruments, as well as power tools such as pneumatic wrenches, welding equipment, and jacks and hoistsTrain other employeesPerforms other related duties as assigned.It is unlawful in Massachusetts to require or administer a lie detector test as a condition of employment or continued employment. Qualifications:

High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent

Required Experience:

5 - 7 Years5+ years of proven medium to heavy-duty vehicle repair including PM's, tire & wheel, air & air disc brakes, diagnosis, computerized diagnostics, electrical troubleshooting, electronic component repair and a minimum of 2 years' experience in A/C refrigeration.
