Job summary

RFB Construction Co., Inc. in Pittsburg, KS is seeking a Diesel Mechanic Apprentice to join our shop team. You will work alongside experienced mechanics to service and repair our fleet of trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment, gaining hands-on skills in a real-world setting.

No prior experience required—training is provided as part of our Elevation program, with clear paths to journeyman roles. This position offers day shifts, steady hours, and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• A strong work ethic and a dependable attitude.
• A natural interest in how things work and a willingness to learn how to turn wrenches.
• Ability to safely use basic hand and power tools.
• Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
• Ability to lift up to 70 pounds and work comfortably in a hands-on shop environment.
• Farming, construction, automotive hobby, or trade school background is a huge plus, but completely optional!

Responsibilities

• Service and repair our fleet of pickup trucks, semi-trucks, trailers, and heavy construction equipment alongside experienced mechanics.
• Perform basic maintenance like oil changes, fluid checks, and tire rotations.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, and fix brakes, suspension, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
• Use company vehicles to run for parts and handle shop errands.
• Keep tools, parts, and the shop area clean, safe, and organized.
• Learn how to use digital fleet software to log your work.

What You Will Do
