Job summary

Waste Management is seeking a Diesel Mechanic to service and repair a broad fleet across our US operations. You’ll work in a repair shop environment, using modern tools to maintain diesel equipment and, at some sites, CNG trucks.

Qualifications

  • 2 years of relevant work experience.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Be over 18 years of age.
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the position.
  • Successfully complete pre-employment drug screen and physical.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on a wide range of vehicles and equipment.
  • Estimate time and material costs for vehicle repairs and new parts.
  • Perform work within Standard Labor Repair Times (SRTs).
  • Respond to service calls for emergency breakdowns.
  • Safety checks on vehicles to protect employees and communities.
  • Complete required paperwork and document parts usage and repair times.
  • Assist senior Mechanics in project work.
  • Review, complete, or assign repairs from Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area in line with OSHA standards.

The hours and location you’ll work in as a Diesel Mechanic with WM:
  • Monday- Friday
  • 12:30pm til work is completed, typically 9:30pm(Occasional Saturday)

  • Overtime Required When Necessary

The normal setting for this job is a repair / maintenance shop at our Saint Cloud, MNhauling site.

Each day you’ll fix the trucks and equipment that service over 20 million customers across the USA. As a Diesel Mechanic you can take pride in watching a truck roll out of the shop, knowing your local community will be supported by your hard work. You’ll be using modern tools and procedures to deliver exceptional maintenance on both diesel equipment and, at some locations, on our growing fleet of CNG trucks.

  • Inspect, diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on a wide range of vehicles and equipment.
  • Estimates time and material costs on vehicle repairs and new parts.
  • Perform your work within our Standard Labor Repair Times (SRTs).
  • Respond to service calls for emergency breakdowns.
  • Safety checks on vehicles – the safety of every single employee and the people in our communities is our number one priority
  • Complete required paperwork, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
  • Assisting senior Mechanics in the completion of project work.
  • Reviews, completes, or assigns repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
  • Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standards and perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.

The expected base pay range for this on-site position is $23.29- $34.94. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific salary offered to a successful candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location.
