Job summary

Silvi Materials is recruiting a Diesel Mechanic in Downingtown, PA for 1st shift with a 10:00 am start. You will maintain, diagnose, and repair heavy‑duty diesel vehicles and equipment, including engines, transmissions, axles, and electrical systems.

The role involves road service calls and using diagnostic tools to ensure compliance with safety and emissions standards. The position offers industry‑leading benefits, including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), pension, and more.

Qualifications

• Fleet/transportation, repair and maintenance experience of preferably at least 3 years for a medium to large size company.
• Valid Driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe and professional working environment.
• Diagnose and perform preventative maintenance for heavy‑duty diesel vehicles and equipment.
• Repair and replace assemblies (diesel engines, transmissions, axles) and sub-assemblies on trucks and equipment.
• Perform electrical work including wiring systems and starter rebuilding.
• Repair and/or adjust electrical sensors and computerized systems per standards.
• Diagnose fuel management systems and engine timing to determine repairs.
• Weld broken assemblies and parts as required.
• Prepare reports of time spent and parts used.
• Learn to utilize diagnostic equipment.
• Respond to road service calls with company vehicle.

A Mechanic Ranking: $15,000 (Paid in $3,000 installments at 30 Days, 90 days, 180 days, 270 days and 365 days)

Pay Range

A Mechanic Ranking: $42-46/hour

B Mechanic Ranking: $34-42/hour

C Mechanic Ranking: $27-34/hour

Signing Bonus

A Mechanic Ranking: $15,000 (Paid in $3,000 installments at 30 Days, 90 days, 180 days, 270 days and 365 days)

B Mechanic Ranking: $10,000 (Paid in $2,000 installments at 30 Days, 90 days, 180 days, 270 days and 365 days)

C Mechanic Ranking: $4,000 (Paid in two $2,000 installments at 90 days, and 180 days)

So what does a Silvi Materials Diesel/Truck Mechanic do?

• Maintain a safe and professional working environment
• Diagnose and perform preventative maintenance for heavy-duty diesel vehicles and equipment.
• Remove, repair, rebuild from start to finish and/or replace assemblies (diesel engines, automatic and manual transmissions, axles) sub-assemblies (cylinder heads, oil pumps, fan belts, generators, starters, gauges) and other parts (tie rods, drag links, ball joints, brake linings, bearings) on trucks and equipment.
• Perform electrical work including wiring systems and starter rebuilding.
• Repair and/or adjust electrical sensors, E. G. R. valves, and computerized electrical systems according to automotive and Federal Government Clean Air Standards.
• Diagnose computerized: fuel management systems, ignition systems and engine timing to determine and perform needed repairs. Changes tires.
• Weld broken assemblies, subassemblies and/or other parts, as required.
• Uses, stores, records, safeguards and properly uses equipment, materials, parts and other supplies.
• Maintain shop and work area in a clean and organized manner.
• Prepare reports and records of time spent, materials, parts used and work completed.
• Required to learn to utilize various types of diagnostic equipment.
• Respond and handle road service calls as needed with the use of a company service vehicle.
