Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. is seeking a Diesel Mechanic in Weldon/Halifax, NC. Bring your experience to repair heavy-duty diesel engines, perform preventative maintenance, and work with a team dedicated to keeping our fleet safe and reliable.

You will diagnose issues using diagnostic software, plan repairs, order parts, and mentor newer technicians in a fast-paced shop environment. A valid work permit and safety mindset are essential.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of diesel mechanic experience.
• Own your own toolbox and take pride in the work.
• Computer-literate and able to use shop software.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose diesel trucks, CNG rigs, and equipment using diagnostic software.
• Perform preventative maintenance and engine/hydraulic repairs as needed.
• Maintain a clean, organized workspace and mentor junior technicians.

What You’ll Be Doing (The Fun Stuff):

Diagnose & Conquer:

Use top-tier diagnostic software and your mechanical intuition to figure out exactly what’s ailing our heavy-duty diesel trucks, CNG rigs, and specialized equipment.

The Ultimate Rebuild:

From standard preventative maintenance to full-blown engine and hydraulic repairs, you’ll be the doctor keeping our massive rolling stock alive and kicking.

Master the Shop:

Utilize an epic arsenal of hand and power tools in a clean, organized workspace.

Be the Expert:

Plan out repairs in our M5 system, order the parts you need, and help mentor newer team members who want to learn from the best.

What We’re Looking For:

The Experience:

You’ve got at least one (1) year of solid experience under your belt working as a diesel mechanic.

The Toolbox:

You bring your own tools and a massive pride in ownership.

The Brains:

You have a high school diploma/GED (a technical diploma is an awesome bonus!) and you're computer literate enough to master our software systems.

The Vibe:

You work safely, communicate well with the team, and love the feeling of a job well done.
