Diesel Mechanic role at WM

Diesel Mechanic

Overview

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on a wide range of vehicles and equipment.
• Estimate time and material costs on vehicle repairs and new parts.
• Perform work within Standard Labor Repair Times (SRTs).
• Respond to service calls for emergency breakdowns.
• Conduct safety checks on vehicles to protect employees and communities.
• Complete required paperwork documenting parts usage and repair times.
• Assist senior Mechanics with project work.
• Review, complete, or assign repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standards and safety procedures.

Qualifications

• 2 years of relevant work experience.
• A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Be over 18 years of age and legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
• Successfully complete and pass pre-employment drug screen and physical.

Work environment, hours & location

• Monday – Friday, second shift 10:00 am to 6:30 pm; no weekends.
• Stable hours for financial security and work-life balance.
• Repair/maintenance shop location in Spartanburg, SC (hauling site).

Compensation & Benefits

• Starting salary of $26-$32 per hour depending on experience; up to $6 per hour with ASE certification.
• Tool allowance up to $2,500; boot allowance of $300.
