Job summary

United Rentals in Virginia is seeking a Diesel Mechanic (Service Tech III) to perform maintenance and repairs on complex rental equipment in a safe, professional manner. You’ll maintain paperwork and may travel to customer sites for service.

Opportunities for growth into higher Service Technician and leadership roles exist within our Service Department. You will need a high school diploma or equivalent, 3–5 years of repair experience, strong mechanical aptitude, tool ownership, and a valid

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• 3–5 years of experience repairing/maintaining equipment and tools.
• Advanced mechanical aptitude with working knowledge of tools.
• Strong mechanical background knowledge of various engines.
• Must own tools applicable to position.
• Superior customer service, teamwork and verbal/written communication skills.
• Ability to frequently lift items up to 45 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Safe maintenance and repair of diverse equipment including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and diesel systems.
• Assist in training lower level technicians as needed.
• Maintain paperwork/electronic work orders accurately and promptly.
• Travel to customer sites for repair/maintenance; keep service vehicle clean and professional.
• Assist with pickup and delivery of equipment and parts.
• Other duties as assigned.

As a Diesel Mechanic (Service Tech III), you’ll use your skills to perform maintenance and repairs on complex equipment in a safe and professional manner. What you'll do:

• Safe maintenance and repair of a variety of complex rental equipment involving mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems

• Assist in the training of lower level technicians as needed

• Maintain paperwork/electronic documentation of work performed (work orders) in a complete and timely manner on a daily basis

• When required, travel to customer job sites for repair/maintenance of rental or customer owned equipment; must maintain service vehicle in a clean and professional manner

• Assist with pick-up and delivery of equipment & parts

• Other duties assigned as needed
