Job summary

United Rentals is seeking a Diesel Mechanic (Service Tech III) to perform maintenance and repairs on a wide range of complex rental equipment in a safe, professional manner. You will support customers by delivering reliable service and may advance toward leadership roles within the Service Department.

The role includes hands-on maintenance, potential travel to customer sites, and collaboration with a team to ensure equipment reliability and safety.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and repair experience with complex equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repairs on a variety of equipment focusing on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems.
• Assist in training lower level technicians as needed.
• Maintain accurate paperwork and electronic documentation (work orders) daily.
• Travel to customer job sites for repair/maintenance when required; keep service vehicle clean and professional.

As a Diesel Mechanic (Service Tech III), you'll use your skills to perform maintenance and repairs on complex equipment in a safe and professional manner. What you'll do:

• Safe maintenance and repair of a variety of complex rental equipment involving mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems


• Assist in the training of lower level technicians as needed


• Maintain paperwork/electronic documentation of work performed (work orders) in a complete and timely manner on a daily basis


• When required, travel to customer job sites for repair/maintenance of rental or customer owned equipment; must maintain service vehicle in a clean and professional manner


• Assist with pick-up and delivery of equipment & parts


• Other duties assigned as needed

Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent


• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record


• 3-5 years of experience repairing/maintaining equipment and tools


• Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools


• Strong mechanical background knowledge of various engines


• Must own tools applicable to position


• Superior customer service, teamwork and verbal/written communication skills


• Ability to frequently lift items up to 45 lbs.
