Job summary

Hy-Vee is seeking a Diesel Technician at the Chariton Distribution Center in Chariton, IA. You will diagnose and repair tractor-trailer systems, inspect equipment to meet federal guidelines, and perform electrical diagnostics using scanners.

Responsibilities include maintenance, oil changes, tire work, and on-road service calls as needed. Valid CDL license and high school/trade training are required; heavy lifting and physical work are expected.

Qualifications

• High school with additional trade school or equivalent experience.
• Technical certification in automotive maintenance helpful.
• Valid CDL license required.
• Over six months up to one-year similar or related work experience.
• Ability to perform very heavy work as needed.

Responsibilities

• Diagnoses problems and performs tractor-trailer repairs/part replacement including diesel engines, brakes, rear-ends, clutches, air conditioners, radiators, diesel engine injectors, water pumps, and wheel bearings.
• Conducts inspections on equipment to meet federal guidelines.
• Diagnoses and repairs electrical systems using computers and scanners.
• Maintains accurate record of work performed and parts used.
• Reports to work when scheduled and on time.
• Performs service work including oil changes.
• Performs tire work.
• Performs other job related duties and special projects as required.
