United Rentals is hiring a Diesel Mechanic (Service Tech III) in Hickory, NC. You will perform safe maintenance and repair on complex rental equipment—mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems—while ensuring quality work orders and professional communication with customers.

The role involves mentoring junior technicians, occasional travel to job sites, and assisting with parts and equipment pickup. A strong mechanical background and a valid driver's license are required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• 3–5 years of experience repairing/maintaining equipment.
• Own the tools applicable to the position.
• Strong mechanical background knowledge of various engines.

Responsibilities

• Safely maintain and repair a variety of complex rental equipment involving mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems.
• Assist in the training of lower-level technicians as needed.
• Maintain paperwork/electronic documentation of work performed (work orders) in a complete and timely manner.
• Travel to customer job sites for repair/maintenance of rental or customer-owned equipment when required; keep service vehicle clean and professional.
• Assist with pick-up and delivery of equipment and parts.
• Perform other duties as needed.
