Job summary

Tom Trese Networking LLC in Harbor Beach, MI seeks an experienced Diesel Mechanic for the Service Department. You will handle diagnostics, major repairs, and performance modifications on diesel trucks with a heavy Duramax focus, using the company’s machine shop and custom parts line.

You’ll diagnose complex issues, own jobs from inspection to release, and advise customers on required work. Certifications are preferred but not required; relocation support is available for qualified candidates.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience diagnosing and repairing diesel trucks, vehicles, or heavy equipment.
• Strong diagnostic ability across mechanical and electronic systems.
• Experience with R&R for engines/transmissions.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, fuel, air, cooling, and drivability issues.
• Perform major repairs, preventive maintenance, component installations, and approved performance modifications.
• Develop repair strategies using diagnostic data, service information, technical specifications, and hands-on experience.
• Identify root causes instead of replacing parts based on symptoms.
• Own assigned jobs from initial inspection through testing, documentation, and final release.
• Evaluate additional findings, explain recommended work, and identify when customer authorization is required.
• Perform final quality-control checks and confirm that completed work meets DHD standards.
• Prevent repeat failures and comebacks through disciplined diagnosis, installation, and validation.
• Provide technical guidance to other technicians when needed.
• Help improve shop procedures, diagnostic methods, workflow, and quality standards.
• Maintain accurate records of findings, labor, test results, parts, approvals, and completion status.

• Competitive Salary Range $35-45/hr
