Job summary

Henderson Group in Harbor Beach, MI is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic for our Service Department. You will diagnose and repair diesel trucks, perform major repairs, and implement performance modifications with a focus on Duramax engines.

Candidates bring 3+ years of diesel diagnostics and repair, strong electrical/mechanical skills, and experience with engine/transmission R&R. Certifications are welcome. Relocation lump sum is available for qualifying applicants.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience diagnosing and repairing diesel trucks, vehicles, or heavy equipment.
• Strong diagnostic ability across mechanical and electronic systems.
• Experience with R&R for engines/transmissions
• Certifications are preferred, but not required

Responsibilities

• Diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, fuel, air, cooling, and drivability issues.
• Perform major repairs, preventive maintenance, component installations, and approved performance modifications.
• Develop repair strategies using diagnostic data, service information, technical specifications, and hands-on experience.
• Identify root causes instead of replacing parts based on symptoms.
• Own assigned jobs from initial inspection through testing, documentation, and final release.
• Evaluate additional findings, explain recommended work, and identify when customer authorization is required.
• Perform final quality-control checks and confirm that completed work meets DHD standards.
• Prevent repeat failures and comebacks through disciplined diagnosis, installation, and validation.
• Provide technical guidance to other technicians when needed.
• Help improve shop procedures, diagnostic methods, workflow, and quality standards.
• Maintain accurate records of findings, labor, test results, parts, approvals, and completion status.

We are looking for an experienced Diesel Mechanic to work in our Service Department in Harbor Beach, MI (Top of the thumb).

This role is built for someone with strong diesel expertise, sound judgment, and the ability to solve difficult mechanical problems without constant direction. You’ll handle advanced diagnostics, major repairs, performance modifications, and quality control across diesel trucks with a heavy focus on Duramax.
