Job summary

XPO is hiring a Diesel Mechanic in Oklahoma to maintain class 6–8 diesel equipment, forklifts, and trailing equipment. You will perform routine maintenance, inspect equipment, and repair systems, ensuring safety and compliance with DOT, EPA, OSHA rules.

This role offers a shift premium for 2nd and 3rd shifts, uniforms, tool allowance, comprehensive health insurance from day one, PTO, holidays, 401(k) with company match, and education assistance.

Qualifications

  • 2 years of tractor/trailer inspection and repair experience or a technical school with heavy-duty certification
  • EPA HVAC Refrigerant Recovery and Recycling Certification within 90 days of hire
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Basic welding skills (Oxy/Acetylene, MIG and ARC) and mechanical skills
  • Basic hand tools for heavy-duty trailer and tractor maintenance
  • Basic computer skills
  • Brake inspection qualification per FMCSA 396.25
  • Vehicle inspection qualification per FMCSA 396.19
  • Willing to work a variety of shifts (days, evenings, nights, weekends)

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance on class 6–8 diesel equipment, forklifts, and trailing equipment
  • Inspect and access equipment for maintenance
  • Repair or rebuild components and systems
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment issues and perform repairs
  • Abide by DOT, EPA, Interstate Authority, OSHA rules
  • Conduct safety inspections and document results
  • Maintain proficiency with equipment/technologies to boost productivity
  • Move trailers and operate a hostler in various weather
  • Record job times and parts on repair orders
  • Operate specialized tooling and vehicles
  • Keep work area safe, clean, and organized
  • Interact with operations and shop management

What you’ll need to succeed as a Diesel Mechanic at XPO

Preferred qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent work-related or military experience
  • Prior mechanical experience such as automotive or skilled trades
  • Previous or current ASE certifications
  • Experience with trailer repair, diesel engine system diagnostics and preventive maintenance for tractor technicians
  • Able to diagnose and repair vehicle air conditioning systems

  • Monday – Friday operation
  • $1/hour shift premium for 2nd shift

What you’ll do on a typical day
  • Perform routine maintenance functions and adjustments on all types of class 6 through 8 diesel equipment, forklifts, and trailing equipment
  • Access any of the equipment to perform necessary maintenance, including inspecting and performing work in, on or under part of the equipment
  • Repair or rebuild all or parts of various equipment systems
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment and component issues and perform repairs accordingly
  • Abide by DOT, EPA, Interstate Authority, OSHA and other rules and regulations
  • Conduct safety inspections on equipment and prepare safety documentation as needed
  • Maintain proficiency with equipment and technologies that enhance productivity
  • Move trailers throughout the property, operating a hostler in all types of weather
  • Enter job times and parts on repair orders to track activity
  • Operate specialized tooling and vehicles
  • Ensure the work area is always clean, safe, and organized
  • Interact with operations and shop management
Diesel Mechanics are required to
  • Frequently lift up to 50 lbs. and occasionally lift more than 75 lbs.
  • Safely walk and stand for extended periods on various surfaces that may be uneven or slippery, including working outdoors in inclement weather
  • Reach (including above your head), bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat and kneel

Walk and stand for extended periods on a loading dock that is not climate-controlled and may be slippery
