Role Description

The Diesel Mechanic is a full-time, on-site role based in Edison, NJ. This role is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing diesel trucks, paving equipment, and other heavy machinery used in asphalt paving operations.

Day-to-day tasks include performing routine and preventive maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical and hydraulic issues, conducting safety checks, and keeping accurate maintenance records. The Diesel Mechanic will collaborate with operations and field crews to ensure equipment is available, reliable, and compliant with safety standards. The role also involves ordering parts as needed, maintaining a clean and organized work area, and supporting emergency repairs to minimize equipment downtime.

Qualifications

• Strong skills in Diesel Mechanics and Heavy Equipment repair, with experience working on construction or paving machinery.
• Proficiency in Vehicle Maintenance and Equipment Maintenance, including diagnostics, repairs, and documentation.
• Demonstrated ability in Preventive Maintenance, focusing on inspection schedules and proactive repairs to reduce breakdowns.
• Knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems commonly found in diesel trucks and paving equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret service manuals, technical diagrams, and work orders.
• Commitment to workplace safety practices and compliance with relevant regulations.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with field and shop teams.
