Job summary

Thompson Pipe Group is seeking an Industrial Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair diesel and gas-powered equipment at our Conroe, TX site. You will perform preventive maintenance, diagnose mechanical issues, and work with schematics and service manuals to keep fleet and plant machinery running efficiently.

The role is full-time with a 1pm–11pm shift. Applicants should have at least 2 years diesel experience, DOT certification, and be prepared to provide their own tools.

Qualifications

• 2 years of Diesel Mechanic experience.
• DOT Certification required.
• Hands-on experience with lube, oil, filter, brakes, tires; preventative maintenance.
• Locate, diagnose and repair mechanical malfunctions in gas and diesel-powered vehicles and equipment.
• Ability to diagnose/troubleshoot regeneration and electrical systems.
• Must have own tools and be able to lift 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair diesel and gas-powered vehicles and heavy equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance (oil changes, greasing, part replacements).
• Replace parts and perform minor repairs as necessary.
• Utilize schematics, service manuals, and parts lists for repairs.
• Operate Fuel/Lube truck to deliver fluids to equipment on site.
• Adhere to safety requirements and maintain a clean, safe work area.

JOB SUMMARY

Under general supervision performs very specific skilled work. Maintains the plant’s mechanical, diesel, electrical, and electronic equipment. Welds to repair and fabricate components essential to production processes. Maintains and repair’s structure, piping, fixtures and equipment. Performs predictive and preventive maintenance. Performs other duties of a similar nature as may be required.

Essential Functions

• Tasks and activities of company’s fleet auto repair shop, working on gas- and diesel-powered vehicles, trucks, and heavy equipment.
• Performs preventive maintenance such as changing oil, greasing and replacing parts on a scheduled basis
• Under supervision, replaces parts and performs minor repairs as necessary
• Replaces designated lube fittings and tires utilizing air tools and hand tools
• Uses schematics, service manuals and parts lists in setting up and performing repairs
• Operate Fuel/Lube truck to deliver fuel/lube to equipment on site
• Performs other duties as required
• Performs all duties and activities in a manner that conforms to safety requirements
• Maintain work area clean and safe work practices
• Takes the initiative to get things done.
• Checks, communicate and fill necessary fluids (battery, powering steering, and washer fluid)-replace all caps.

Required Experience

• 2 years of Diesel Mechanic experience
• DOT Certified Mechanic
• Hands on experience with lube, oil, filter, brakes, tire (auto, lt truck, commercial, and farm) preventative maintenance fluid flushes.
• Locate, diagnose and repair mechanical malfunctions in gas and diesel-powered vehicles and equipment.
• Ability to diagnose/troubleshoot regeneration systems
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems
• Must have experience using a standard/metric wrench and socket set, screwdriver s, hammer, impact gun and sockets, pry bar, alignment toe hooks, air hammer, tape measure, vise grips, torque bits, wheel bearing socket set, 12 volt test light, and oil filter tools to perform the duties of the GMT position
• Must be able to lift 50 Lbs. easily
• Lube tech: 1 year (Required)
• Truck Tire Installer: 1 year (Required)
• Must be able to provide your own tools
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

Physical Demands

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move products and supplies, up to 75 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. You will be expected to work from 1pm-11pm.
