Genesee & Wyoming Inc. is hiring a Diesel Mechanic to inspect, service, and maintain diesel locomotives, ensuring safe, efficient operation. This hands-on role includes working with diagnostic tools, following safety standards, and potential shop or field assignments across North America.

On-the-job training is provided; opportunities for growth within a 125-year-old railway legacy and a network of 100+ railroads. Strong diligence, teamwork, and clear communication are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent work experience.
• Valid driver’s license and eligibility to work in the US.
• Must be at least 18 years old.

Responsibilities

• Comply with all federal, state, and railroad safety and operational regulations.
• Perform daily inspections, servicing, and maintenance on diesel-electric locomotives.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions; repair or replace as necessary.
• Perform locomotive car-body repairs, including welding and fabrication.
• Operate forklifts and power tools; work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Keep accurate FRA-compliant records and reports; collaborate on repair planning.
• Interpret blueprints and repair instructions; work with a trainer or supervisor.
