Job summary

Cedar Crest Dairy is hiring a Diesel Fleet Technician / Mechanic to join our in-house transportation team in Hudsonville, MI. Youd work on our own trucks and trailers in a 3-bay maintenance shop with company tools and equipment.

Expect a full-time schedule, Monday–Friday, with occasional on-call/weekend work and overtime. You will diagnose, repair and maintain Class A/B/C trucks, trailers, and refrigeration units, using diagnostic software and scan tools.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of diesel, heavy-duty truck or fleet maintenance experience.
• Strong mechanical diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
• Valid drivers license.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on Cedar Crest's Class A, B and C trucks and trailers.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and air systems.
• Repair engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, steering, exhaust and other truck systems.
• Perform DOT inspections and ensure safety and compliance requirements.
• Use diagnostic software and tools to identify problems and complete repairs.
• Complete work orders and maintenance records.

Cedar Crest Dairy is looking for an experienced Diesel Fleet Technician / Mechanic to join our transportation team in Hudsonville, MI.

This is an in-house fleet position where you'll work on Cedar Crest's own trucks and trailers in our 3-bay maintenance shop. We provide the shop, equipment, and tools you need to do the job right—and you'll have the opportunity to work on a variety of heavy-duty equipment while keeping our fleet safe and reliable.

What You'll Do

• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on Cedar Crest's Class A, B and C trucks and trailers
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and air systems
• Repair engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, steering, exhaust and other truck systems
• Perform DOT inspections and ensure vehicles meet safety and compliance requirements
• Use diagnostic software, scan tools and other equipment to identify problems and complete repairs
• Complete work orders, maintenance records and inspection documentation
• Diagnose and repair refrigeration units on refrigerated equipment; Thermo King or Carrier experience is a plus
• Respond to occasional road calls and emergency repairs
• Work with drivers and transportation leadership to identify recurring equipment issues
• Keep the shop, tools and work areas clean, organized and safe
• Follow all DOT, safety and company requirements

What We're Looking For

• 2+ years of diesel, heavy-duty truck or fleet maintenance experience
• Heavy-duty/Class A truck experience strongly preferred
• Strong mechanical diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to use computerized diagnostic equipment and repair manuals
• Knowledge of DOT inspection and maintenance requirements
• Valid driver's license
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. and perform physical tasks including bending, kneeling, climbing and standing for extended periods

These Are a Plus, But Not Required

• ASE T-Series certification
• Thermo King or Carrier refrigeration experience
• EPA refrigerant certification
• CDL Class A or B
• Welding or fabrication experience
